Nature economy

From 12 to 16 May 2014 will be held at Université of Concordia in Montreal, Canada the 82nd Congress of the Francophone Association for Knowledge (Association francophone pour le savoir - ACFAS) . The annual congress of ACFAS is the largest multidisciplinary gathering of knowledge and research of the Francophonie, welcoming thousands of researchers and research users. The conference theme this year is "Research: areas of convergence and creativity".

During the conference, ACED will participate in the seminar "Adaptation to climate change and increasing sea level in coastal areas: a global perspective." The seminar will address the growing problem of impacts suffered by coastal areas as a result of climate change, such as rising sea levels, increased frequency and intensity of extreme weather events and changing winter conditions at high latitudes.

The research findings of the Climate Change programme of ACED and specifically the project focused on coastal area of Benin implemented with the Université du Quebec à Montréal will be shared. ACED with partners will share research results during this conference through two scientific papers including:

  • Vulnerability of fishing communities in south-western Benin to climate change and variability
  • The role of exchange of experience and information technology and communication in climate adaptation

This conference is an opportunity for ACED to share his experience and research on climate change in Benin and their implications on food security.
